1974 70hp johnson
i was having trouble getting the engine to rev up,
then i noticed 2 of the 3 spark plug wires came out of the ignition coils i screwed them back in and now the revs will go up but the engine seems to knock a little, before i found the plug wires loose i was fooling around with the timing, would that of made the engine noisy.

Fooling around? Like, what did you do? Incorrect timing is real bad for the health of an engine.
