Well, I have the dreaded 470, and so far, I can't complain! I do have a concern. Got the boat running well, fuel filter, oil changed, all bellows replaced, carboator cleaned, new shift cable - ready to go. When I got the boat to 3000 prm and like 35 mph, I noticed an engine knock. I checked the timing and set it to "8" - which the manual recomends. The knock is gone, but now it's hard to start when warm. When doing the timing on an older engine - should I adjust it till the engine runs freely? You know, if its moved closer to 10 I think, the idle speeds up and your retard it and it slows. I think I need to advance it past 8 - looking for opinions here.
Also, I was swimming behind the boat the other day and noticed a anti-freeze smell! Heat exchanger? I have no heat issues - runs @ 160 degrees.
Thank you all in advance.
