I need help timing my 2.5l Mercuiser. The block is a 2.5l 1980 merc, but the head is a 1999 3.0l, the ignition is electronic. I was wondering what I should set the base timing to? My old valve cover says 8 degrees, however with electronic ignition and a 3.0l head I was not sure if this is correct. Should I set it at 8 degrees before? I have set the timing using the procedures outlined for electronic ignitions, however I am not sure what I should actually set it to for maximum performance.

8 degrees BTDC. if you want performance, swap the 2.5 for a 3.0
