timing on a 1989 200

how can i adjust timing on a 1989 jonhson if i cannot run the engine at 4500 rpm hard to set timming at this rpm on water may someone knows a better way to do it.suppose to be at 18 btc.and 6 at iddle

You can do it with the boat in the water but secured to the trailer. Use either a test wheel or a small prop. Also, do a search on timing. <br /><br />c/6<br /><br />Hooty
