Hello all,
I have 1991 force 120. model1201x91c / ser. 023223. There are three marks on the fly wheel.
One I found to be TDC of the #1 or top cylinder.
To the left about 4 or 5 inches as you face the timing bracket there are 3 other marks. As I run the engine with the timing light on #1 cyl. the TDC mark is on the opposite side as the timing bracket. No matter how I adjust the timing the mark will not swing around. The fly wheel has to be on right! What do you think I am missing.
Also the rectifier got extremely hot once and it has a bulge on the top. Once I tightened the teminals it did not heat up. I will replace it but do you think it is effecting the timing?
This engine was submerged about 3 weeks ago.
Thanks
Ken

Re: Timing/rectifier

When you are moving trying to time the engine...are the timing marks for each cyl advancing or retarding at all?

The second set of line are for WOT timming...one is 28 the other 2 are 30 and 32 deg.

You should be setting WOT at 30 deg.

If you are unable to set the timing as it does not seem to advance and retard...you will have to replace the trigger.

We can supply

marine.ron@shaw.ca

TMD
