Ok i admidt i do not know everything. i had boat out last night and needed to adjust idle a bit. I adjusted the timing screw by mistake( please feel free to insert idiot card here). Anywaqy i left the backup nut in the same spot or as close to it as i could. After i relized my mistake i put it back to as close to the original spot i could remember. After i got idle up and could put the warm up throttle down all the way i ran boat for about 20 mins . It hit a max of 5k rpm full throttle and seemd to run good. After running it stalled out at idle while trailering but i can adjust that still. Anyways can someone explain timing to me. Would i know if i put it out of wack? Is there some room in the timing adjustment? It is a 120 1986 johnson.

Re: Timing

Your timing is probably right!
If you are fussy, adjust your timing at full throttle with a tachometer for max RPM (you will need a helper for that).

Good luck, Peter
