May take my riveted 14.5 sea nymph to Fla. keys this winter, I see quite a few 14Rs in the park we stay in. Have a 20hp 2stroke and a new galvanized tlr. I have access to the first 1/3 inside down to stringers and ribs ( no foam) Can rinse very well in and out and assume have to use the muffs for fresh water rinse. Leaving on trailer except when using. Am I on the right track? when this salt exposure. Is there a chance the salt may work its way under the ribs/stringers and damage the hull? Any suggestions please. Only foam flotation is on both side about half the length. Could get a rinse in there too but packed in tight. It has lived in Mi. no salt. Thanks

Hey Buch, How's the paint on your boat? Exterior got a good paint job? I personally would rather have a good painted hull in the salt than a bare aluminum, but you could wash the bare aluminum with soap and water and prolly be good too.

You going after Snook and Snapper?

As jignrub said paint is going to be your friend when it comes to salt water, I know a family member who uses their tinny in salt water and has for 30+ years on the same hull. That said they repaint the boat every year and ensure if the paint gets nicked they fix it after a good wash and before it goes back into the water. You are on the right track about a fresh water wash/rinse after every use.

Should be a problem as long as you wash and rinse boat after use. Flush the motor after use. There are products you can buy, that you spray on to reduce corrosion.
When we took a cruise to AK a few years ago,I noticed quite a few Aluminum boats being used, Lunds, MirrorCraft, ETC. Matter of fact If you watch any of the shows on TV about living in AK....You'll see many "Tin" boats being used.

what year and make of your motor? todays motors all have stainless shafting, however many older outboards have steel shafts

if paint is good on your boat in and out, you will be good with a post use flush.
