Just installed a Tiny Tach on my 1960 Evinrude Lark 40. Works Great!

This is a magneto ignition engine, two cylinder, two stroke, two sets of points. Not easy to find a tachometer that would work on it. Tiny Tach model TT226R-1c. Ordered an extra long 14' wire. Simple installation - just wrap lead around spark plug wires and ground other wire.

So, for any of you with old magneto-only engines, who want a tach, this is it - for less than $50. www.tinytach.com

yup they work great don't they and you get a free hour meter ;) . Took me two broken conventional tachs on my manual 55 suzuki to try one. I also found out that the conventional tachs were both out by 2-300 rpm.

Yes, it clips on to a sparkplug lead, and gives you a reading is sparks per minute. Since on one lead you get one spark per revolution, you also read rotations per minute.
