Re: tipped the baot over

You MUST get it running ASAP---now! You have a maximum of one day if it was salt water. Not much longer if it was fresh. If you need professional help to do that, so be it. It will be a lot cheaper than repairing it after the water does its damage to the internals.

Your other option is to turn it in to your insurance company. But they want you to mitigate the damages too.

What year is the motor? Does it have electronic ignition? Whatever ignition system you have, it's probably saturated and that's why you have no spark Take the flywheel off and blow compressed air on everything, use a hair dryer for some heat, take the plugs out and crank the motor over and over, spay some fuel/oil mix into the cylinders. F_R is absolutely right, you don't have very much time to get it back running, even if it doesn't run good, just get it running asap.

Did the engine get 100% submerged? Whatever you do, do it fast. You should drain the carb(s) asap also. And change the fuel.

Re: tipped the baot over

Remove the drain screws/bolts at the bottom front portion of the carburetor float chamber. Hook up a fuel tank with a good known fuel/oil 50/1 mixture. Pump the fuel primer bulb until you're sure that there is no water flowing out the drain holes AND that what is draining is the good known fuel mixture. Reinstall the rain screws/bolts.

Remove the spark plugs and ground the spark plug high tension leads (the plug boots).

Open the throttle, have the choke on full, OR if the engine has a fuel primer solenoid instead of a choke, have the RED lever of the solenoid turned so that it faces away from the solenoid. Crank the engine until you are sure that no more water is flying out the spark plug holes AND that the fuel mixture IS being forced out the plug holes.

Disconnect the large RED electrical plug at the engine to eliminate any problems that exist with the control box, ignition switch, etc. If your engine does not have this RED plug, let us know.

Hopefully you have spark...... Turn the RED lever of the primer solenoid back so that it is over top of the solenoid and facing the other end of the solenoid. Bring the throttle back down to an idle position, then slightly higher than a idle. Install new spark plugs. Crank the engine by using a small jumper from the battery terminal of the starter solenoid to the small 3/8" nut on the solenoid that engerizes the solenoid. Hopefully without too much trouble, this will allow you to get the engine started.

Let us know how you make out.

what deos the soliniod look like , its granking over , then it seems to die as if the battery doesnt have enought charge , but its brand new battery, the thick red lead , runs back to the back of the motor , with other electrics running off it , that had water coming out of it , im not sure how to get it off

the whole boat was upside down, there didnt seem to be alot of water under the cover when i took it off, nothing looked wet, i have taken the front plate off to get to the carbis, and flushed with crc, it crankes over then dies as if the battery isnt charge , but it is , im lost

Re: tipped the baot over

You need someone with knowledge of that engine to get it running pronto. Unfortunately, even with our help, I fear that you won't be able to get it running in time to save it.

The cranking over okay, then not cranking is probably due to water in the electric starter but it could be something else. The starter solenoid is the round component that the large red battery cable goes to, and another large red cable going to the electric starter.

What year and horsepower is that engine?

Mark, I am a great advocate of doing it yourself, but the clock is ticking. You obviously need help. This is no place to be learning how to be an outboard technician. Get help.
