My tires are wearing on the inside,I have a tracker F-1700 trailer with single axil.I think my axil may be bent. Can the axil be heated and bent,or would I be better off replaceing the axil,if so where can I get one for a tracker trailer? The GVWR is 2500 lbs and a max load of 2000 lbs and I have a 50 hp outboard Mercury engine.I do not want to bend it again if I replace it.How do you figure the weight of the boat-Motor-Gear-People.Your help is welcomed.

Take it to an axle alignement shop. They'll either fix it or tell you that you need a new axle.

Look up the model of boat and motor and you should have a good estimate of what they weigh. Then add the weight of the gear, people, etc. and you have a rough estimate what the total weight is.

I would take the boat, trailer, gear, etc. to a scale and have it weighed. Then you know what the total is. Then remove the boat, launch it, and take the trailer to the scale and weight it again. Subtract the weight of the trailer from the overall weight and you will know the weight of the boat, motor and gear.

That is what I would do.

Or just get a axle rated for 3500 pounds and change it out and be done with it.

How to Measure a Trailer Axle

yep, if you bent your axle then it was overloaded so get a bigger axle for it but I would add that you need to replace the springs too so it matches your axle. springs are purchased at half the axle weight so when added together they equal that weight so for a 3500 lb axle you need to buy a pair of 1750 lb springs that fit your spring mounts.

3500 lb axle - 3500 lb. Square Galvanized Trailer Axles at Trailer Parts Superstore

axle springs - Trailer Leaf Springs at Trailer Parts Superstore

all this can be done for under $200 but keep in mind when you select your axle it may use different bearings and maybe different hubs then the ones you have now so pay attention to the spindle sizes they list and if needed get the correct hubs for it.

a 3500 lb axle WILL used different hubs n bearings... get a complete assembly

Sometimes axle's are bent from temporary conditions IE filled boat w water of used trailer for another bigger boat etc so definitely weigh the boat n trailer

another possible cause of the wear is if someone has flipped a cambered axle upside down ... that would reverse the camber and cause it to wear the insides of the tires

not the "recommended" method but.......

I once bought a boat and trailer 1200 miles from home and in 200 miles it has worn the inside of the tires to the point of near blowout...

in a wallmart parking lot I put new tires on it and then jacked it up from the CENTER of the axle.. I got in the boat and bounced it the jack. The hope was that I could bow the axle enough to get it home...... I towed that trailer for years and never had another tire problem...

jus sayin LOL

I have had an axle worked over by an axle alignment shop, they can do wonders. I think it cost me around 75 bucks they had lasers and all these things that came up out of the floor to straighten it back up it was pretty neat to watch. If you go the weigh it and re axle route, i would think you would want to INCLUDE the weight of the trailer as well into your calculation. The trailer is riding on the springs and axle as well as the boat weight.
