I'm having trouble getting the prop shaft out. I've got the bearing carrier out but can't get the shaft out. I can pull ut out aalittle but it seems to be catching on something. Do I need to take the crankshaft out first? With the propshaft in, it's hard to get to the crankshaft nut . I've taken out all the bolts on the side of the lower also .

The pinion and it's nut need to be removed. The screw for the shifting yoke gets removed. Then the prop shaft and forward gear come out.

A long open end is placed on the nut and then a spline tool is used to turn vertical shaft to remove the nut. Note any shims that are found.

Thank you!

Is the pinion nut a regular twist (lefty loosy) nut?
