I have a 2005 Mercruiser 4.3 with carburetor which I was told had TKS.It's supposed to start as easy as a MPI but it doesn't start any easier than any other engine I have owned, I/O or OB. Worse than some!Anyone know how I can tell if I have it.I ordered an engine manual from Mercruiser but it doesn't mention it.I know this is a dealer issue which I will pursue in the spring but I like to be a step ahead of the dealer when possible.

Re: TKS (turn key starting)

The carb will have an engrichment valve on it, with wires going to it if it's a TKS carb. But on the 2005 models, that is the only type carb used. So you do have it. There may be a problem with it however, so have them check it out while it's still under warranty.

Also, there were some 2005 models that went out that were not TKS. Talk to your dealer/mfg'er to see. They will retrofit if it isn't.
