What can be done to a TLDI motor to tune it up?

Change spark plugs & run some sea foam in the gas?
No carb to clean.
Should I clean the intake butterfly?
If so how there is a screen over it.
I'm rebuilding the lower unit over the winter so the motor is on a stand. It was running ruff last time it was out. I had to give it throttle very slowly or it would die. Will sea foam in the gas help correct this issue?
A also put auto light spark plugs in but the manual says NGK. Will this cause an issue? should I gap the auto light the same as the NGK calls for?

Thank you for any info on this matter.

Re: Tldi tune up

It doesn't need a "tune-up" in the classic sense. Other than changing the gear oil there isn't anything to do. On the plugs my best advice is to toss the plugs and put in the correct NGK spark plug. DFI engines have a critical spark specification and being too hot or too cold is a gamble with anything other than the correct plug.....Plus, I loathe all spark plugs other than NGK:)
