Ok everyone I never have any thing easy, so put your thinking cap on and give me a hand. I have a fishing pontoon that had a 70 HR johnson and I had a dealer put
a 1995 50 hp, model J50PLS0C, on it. He had to replace the wiring from the console back to the motor.

Now this is my problem. When I put it in the water and use my trim one time, the down trim stays on and will not shut off. I have taken it back to the dealer and he thought he had it fix, by replacing the trim switch on the console. But it still does it. I have staced all the wiring from the ignition switched back to the motor and everything look OK. I am thinking that there is moisture somewhere that is causing it, but I don't think that much water is getting under the motor cover.

Could the down relay be bad and be the problem? If it is, wouldn't it do it all the time.

I am going to take it back to the dealer, but I am trying to find out if any one else have ever had this problem.

Welcome to iboats!:welcome:

You have a stuck "down" relay, as you have surmised. You can test by switching the two relays. Or tap the relay with a screwdriver handle while it's suck. Even if it unsticks, replace it anyway.
