I got a silly question for my TN-28 - will I hurt my coils if I crank the motor over with the spark plugs out? I thought I read somewhere that the spark plug wire needs to be grounded when turning the motor over.

no worries on the tn-28, thats more of an issue with modern cdi ignitions.

edit: it should be mentioned that grounding the plug wires is still a good idea if there is fuel in the equation, as an errant spark from a plug wire dangling near a plug hole can still cause the fuel to ignite !

no. it wont hurt. it wont actually start like that, but its an easy way to check for compression and good plugs if you dont have the meters
