Trying to decicide to upholster or dye.

I have 4 bow cushions that have some sun damage. The vinyl is still soft and flexible with no cracking. They just look to have discolored from the sun and probably sunscreen and such.

I got a quote from Fibrenew for about $150 to dye them which seems pretty good to me.
any guesses on how much to upholster the 4 ?

Thoughts.

I'd guess more then $150, unless you remove the cushions yourself & deliver them to the upholstery shop. Then agree to wait for them to have a few minutes a day over a couple weeks to do them as they can. Rather then as a start to finish job, slowly as time allows might save you a few bucks.

It may take a bit to find a shop that will do it that way, but it won't hurt to ask & see..

The bow cushions are going to be about 500 600. Buy a spray can of color b ond vinyl dye. Its around 15. Clean the material with soap and water. Then acetone. Follow the directions. Light coats. Clean it good and it will get you through

I ended up having Fibrenew do the work for me. I am very happy with the results. To upholster would have been about $600. The stains were caused by suntan lotion that was not cleaned off and over time the sun discolored it . So at the end of the season I pulled off the cushions and he painted them over the winter. He used a primer then a dye that they sprayed on. They also used a clear coat with a protectant so it wont stain again (if cared for ). I think I will have them do a few more cushions this winter.

The eyebrow was sanded so all the chips were feathered first then he used a primer. If you get real close you can still see some bumps if you look for them.
