I notice they are only offering 3 prizes in 2012, for everyone killing a Snake head. Seems like a small concern about the snakes.

Oldbrain....They are ACTUALLY tagging & releasing the snakes for data collecting.

STUPID or stupider than stupid ? What are my license & sporting taxes doing ??????

How many Snakeheads have you ever caught or seen?... I'm going to guess not many if any.

They could actually be a boost to the local economies that have them, people pay good money for guided Snakehead fishing trips down in south Florida.

The people in Maryland were just scared of them because they thought they were going to eat their blue crabs... come to find out, Snakeheads are terrified of blue crabs and blue crabs think Snakehead is delicious!

No, you would be stupid to declare something "a serious threat" when you don?t know anything about them.

I don?t know about Jersey, but the monthly fisheries meetings in Maryland are open to the general public. l would suggest that you attend a few of the NJ meeting before declaring your money wasted on DNR. Then again, I?m only familiar with Md. DNR. Perhaps Jersey?s program is a waste of money. Why don't you attend next months NJ fisheries meeting and get back with us?

Raise native fish fry in a hatchery. ONLY feed them NEW BORN problem fish as their food. You will create a eating machine that wants problem fish / clams/ Zebras.

Striped Bass can EASILY crack any invasive specie of clams & mussels. The adult small bait fish can also be trained to attack baby invasive pests.

Raise ALL native fish to EAT NEW BORN Snakefish, Jumping carp & anything else.

Native weed eaters like carp raised on invasive weeds, can eliminate problem weeds...............

All the above is worth a try. Suprised NO Fish & Game people are not doing it.

It is called WORK. Not like sitting around waiting for a wonderfull pension to drop into your lap.

Rich

It's difficult to remove millions of years of instinct in a single generation...but worth a try!

Funny how people claim things to be true somewhere else. Possession of snakeheads is prohibited in Florida per FWC68-5.003. Also in Alabama ADC&NR 220-2-.26.

Also funny how everything tastes like chicken. How do we know what chicken tastes like if it tastes like everything else? Wonder if Burmese Python tastes like chicken?

I like the " Everything tastes like chicken. " :) So very true. If it white & shreds apart. It must be a chicken. :):)

AHowdy Rich; Glad to see someone thinking on their feet. This is a serious problem that we are not
going to eat our way out of. Also, think we need to educate our youth of seriousness of this problem.

I'd eat 'em if I caught 'em. BBQ carp are yummy!
