Objective: Get 25 year old deck to last another 10 years

Material: stripped deck down to bear wood. Wood was solid like old barn wood.

Plan: was like friscoboater, 2 layers of 1.5 oz. CSM then gel coat.

Done: fiberglass supply guy convinced that one layer of 2 oz. CSM is enough and finish with gel coat (2 layers).

Should I add another layer of CSM or 1708?

Just looking to do the job right, I am kind of a perfectionist. I am not looking to do a white wash!

Can you put to little down? How much is to little? What is a crap job?

Thanks
Mark

IMHO if you precoat the deck with resin, tab the deck to the sides of the hull with 1708 and then follow with the 2 oz's of CSM then finish it off with two coats of Gelcoat you should get the durabliity you're looking for, as long as you take reasonable care of the boat and don't leave it out in the elements totally uncovered and exposed.
