I can still find parts for my 1969 Chrysler 20 HP. Some of the members have advised me to replace this motor as soon as I can, however, I will not get much money for this motor in Costa Rica and it was seldomly used so it would be a real waste of money to scrap it.

So my question is if I can still repair this motor and still find parts such as points and condensers, impellers, carb kits, pistons and rings, sleeves, etc. Is there a good reason to replace and not repair, except for curtailing contamination and would not consuming a new motor and disposing of the old motor not a form of energy consumption and waste?

Re: To Replace or to Repair

If you can keep it running, and it provides reliable service, then keep it.

If you ever have to rebuild the powerhead, it may be cheaper to replace it with a newer or new engine.
