I Have an Evinrude 1995 115hp. Just blew out my lower unit. Gears totaly stripped. Would you repower with a new engine? Benefits, warranty on the engine, or just go ahead and fix the lower unit. Too fix the lower unit It'll cost about 1/5th of the new engine, and who knows what will happen down the road with the older engine. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Re: To Repower or Not

Thats a toss up. Put money in that one or put that same money toward a new motor. A lot depends on which 1995 115 you have, the crossflow or the 60 degree looper. If its the crossflow, even though those are very proven designs, it might be benifical to move toward newer technology.

I'd almost be willing to bet you already know what you WANT to do. Never, ever go aginst your gut feelings.
