To restore or not to restore?

I recently got a free 1970ish tri-haul Glastonbury boat and trailer. It was free! I want to restore it. But it need everything! Paint, carpet, upholstery, gauges, throttle and engine. Total remodel. I am very good at this type of work. I have never done it on a boat. But I remodel and fix things for a living. I plan to do everything myself. Is it worth it? You can buy decent boats for 5-10k. I plan to bring it back to show room quality. Should I do it? I also plan to keep it once completed. I know it will be a lot of work. But I’m worried about spending all this money on an old boat. The hull and bones are in good shape. What are your thoughts and tips? Thank you!

a good classic boat..... no problem.

a tri-hull, I wouldnt waste my time personally as I hate tri-hulls.

however if this is your dream boat, go for it.

My first boat was a trihull.....from there to the next one. It was a good starting point for me.

Thank you for the responses. I’ve always wanted to get a boat. But no money to buy a nice one. And buying a used boat can be rough sometime. It was a free boat and trailer. I have been researching how to do all the work. And it’s all I things I can do. And I’m doing all the labor couple hours a week. So any advice would be great. With paint, parts, seats, motor and other things I think the rehab will cost around $7,000. But then I have a brand new boat. That’s worth it? Or should I just spend 7k on a boat? Lol. I have heard it both ways. And if anyone has a good step by step guide to refurbish a boat would be appreciated. Thank you all!
