To Sell Or Not To Sell

I have a 96' 250CR Crownline (454 7.4L 375 hours) that needs repair (outdrive rebuilt, gimbal steering pin replacement, engine coupler, bellows).

I owe little on it and basically want to brush my hands clean of it. Does this even have a market interest (the boat is in good shape aside from major drive train issues) or is it better to donate it and get the tax right off?

Any input would be greatly appreciated. I just want to have this head ache alleviated.

Thanks!

Take some offers and see what you can get for it.Donating does not work the way it used to years ago.Charlie

Craigslist it. If it has a trailer it WILL sell for something or even if you have to give it away it might beat the hassle of "donating" it and all the time/paperwork.

If this is true, I'd fix it. If this was a little bowrider, you'd have a chance of not recouping your repair costs. I do not feel that would be the case with this boat.

what drive does it have?-- I would look for a used drive if an SEI unit wont fix it.

Depends on how much your boat is worth fixed. Have you gotten an estimate on the repairs to get her running? I wouldn't feel right about donating a boat that is useless to someone. I would try selling her as is or with the work already done. If it is true that the rest of the boat is in great condition, there are probably a few buyers out there, but this is a buyers market.
