hehe... Well I called my insurance co. today on my transom to see what coverage I had. It's good coverage, but they do not cover wear and tear to a boat. So, should I drive the boat untill the motor falls off??? I'm still confused on what to do. Its so old and everything, maybe I should total it out. Anyone know about State Farm Boat Insurance and how they concider totalling out a boat?? It's insured for 4800.00 and that would be enough for a decent down payment on another used boat... Well again, much thanks for all your help so far with my delema.

Don't quite get what you mean be "Total out".<br />Your insurance cover would be for accidental damage not intentional damage.<br />If you were planning to do something a little "sneaky", I would not post it here... ;) <br />I would just do what had to be done..<br /><br />just my $.02

No insurance covers neglect or mis-use, wear and tear, lack of maintenance, and may not pay a liability claim if you are guilty of any of the above.<br /><br />It covers accidental fire theft and vandalism, like on a car. You can't just let it fall apart and then say, " its broke, Pay Me."

You may even experience a reduction in the compensation if the boat is maintained below normal standard.<br /><br />An insurance is not meant to cover wear, tear and maintenance - YOU are! If you don't, the value of the boat is less and so will compensation be.<br /><br />'Arranged disappearence' happens and the insurance companies knows it. And they love getting after those who tries to take advantage..<br /><br />BTW: The rest of the insurance customers are the ones who really pays, at end of the day.

I also have StateFarm Insurance. I have a older (1985 starcraft 15' Aluminum Bassboat) that I only paid 1500 for. I got good coverage with them, but when asked the question how much would I get if in the event it sank, got run over or whatever.. their reply was what ever the book value is. In my area of the country boats tend to be a little more exspensive so i think according to NADA guides the total vaule of my boat is 1200, if they were to give me the 1200 i couldnt possibly find anything decent.. so you may want to be sure prior to calling Tony Saprono to do a "job" for you :)

Re: To Sink Or Not To Sink

IM DONEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE Thanks to everyone who helped me out... I had the transom complete the past weekend... I put a nice looking stainless steal cap on it yeterday and mounted the motor tonight and fired it up... Everything is great and solid!!! I spend a total of 400.00. Well I'll be testin it out at the lake this weekend and will let everyone know how it does... I have 99.9% confidence that it will be great. Im now looking forward to refinishing the top coat, recarpeting and refinish the seats... I have much work ahead this fall... Anyhow. Thanks again!!
