Toggle Switch diagnosis

Hi everyone, so everytime I flip on the toggle switch for my live well on the center console the breaker for the switch pops, what should be my first course of action as to why this is happening, I am pretty handy but dont know too much about electrical issues.

Ayuh,.... You've got a Dead Short.... Do ya have a Test Light, or Multimeter,..??

Open the dash, 'n disconnect the wire from the switch to the pump,...
Flip the switch to On, 'n there should be Power, on both sides of it...
If the breaker don't trip,... reattach the wire to the pump....

Then disconnect the power wire from the pump,... turn the switch to On, 'n test the wire end for Power...
If there's power at the end of the power wire, 'n the breaker don't trip,...
Replace the pump,... it's shorted out....

Btw,... Check that the impeller in the pump ain't bound up, causin' it to stall, 'n trip the breaker...
