toggle switch near battery

my battery is in a little plastic box. and there is a toggle swicth on the box with a wire that hooks up to one of the terminals on the battery does anybody know what this toggle switch is for.

its for toggling. when all else fails toggle it

a buddy has a 70 whaler with the switch to the running lights on the battery box. you'll have to trace it down, but do us all a favor and get a FUSE HOLDER and a sealed switch. sparks around a battery is not a good idea along with non-fused wiring. <br /><br />got an extinguisher? where is the second wire?

thanks for the replys i think it could be for something that it keeps running (lights,battery,i know if i leave the switch on the battery will die)?
