Re: toggle switches
I am amazed at the low quality/inappropiate switches that get tossed into boats. I guess its an effort to save a buck by the manufacturers. You want a rocker, rotary/cam, or push button switch that is rated NEMA 4 or 4X. You can hose them off with a direct spray. The X indicates corrosion resistant for corrosive environments
salt!

There may be toggle switches that are NEMA 4 (4X) but I dont use toggles so I havent come across any. For on/off toggle appliactions I use an Airpax circuit breaker
kills two birds with one stone.

There are several companies that make push button, rocker, and rotary switches. They sell in the $10-$40 range. Always on Ebay for about $2 used, $4 new
and up. Brands to look for: IDEC, Cutler-Hammer, Omron, Carling, Allan-Bradley (Rockwell), GE. There are a billion different combinations so if you are interested in a NEMA 4 (4X) switch let me know and I will post the nomenclature you will need to select the right switch.
