Is there a good water proof toggle switche. I loose the use of my lights etc, which are controlled by toggle switches, when it rains. Power on the in side of the toggle switches but nothing coming out

Thanks for the help.

Re: toggle switches

I am amazed at the low quality/inappropiate switches that get tossed into boats. I guess it’s an effort to save a buck by the manufacturers. You want a rocker, rotary/cam, or push button switch that is rated NEMA 4 or 4X. You can hose them off with a direct spray. The “X” indicates corrosion resistant for corrosive environments…salt!

There may be toggle switches that are NEMA 4 (4X) but I don’t use toggles so I haven’t come across any. For on/off toggle appliactions I use an Airpax circuit breaker…kills two birds with one stone.

There are several companies that make push button, rocker, and rotary switches. They sell in the $10-$40 range. Always on Ebay for about $2 used, $4 new…and up. Brands to look for: IDEC, Cutler-Hammer, Omron, Carling, Allan-Bradley (Rockwell), GE. There are a billion different combinations so if you are interested in a NEMA 4 (4X) switch let me know and I will post the nomenclature you will need to select the right switch.
