tohatsu 20 4stroke

I was thinking of getting a new 20 4stroke for a 1436.How good is this motor and will it plane out 2 people on a 1436 lowe jon boat.I'm not sure which outboard to buy there all pretty good in there own way.I am narrowing it down to suzuki,and tohatsu because merc is tohatsu up to 30 hp efi, so why waste the money on the same motor.Well if anyone has any performance stories or help on this let me know thanks.

I bought a new Nissan 18hp 4-stroke electic start from Onlineoutboards.com in 2008 for my 16' jon boat. Tohatsu also makes this Nissan, just a different paint job. It's been the perfect motor for getting me out to my fishing holes.

Forgot to mention my 18hp has no problem in reaching a plane in my16' LoweJon boat with two adults plus gear. A 20hp should serve you just fine.

I just purchased a 20 h.p. tahatsu and have it on a 14 foot Avon inflatable. I love it. I have only had it out once and that was in the prince Williams sound. With three guys at half throttle we were doing 13 knots and , after running it for a few hours, we hit 18 ? knot at full throttle in 1?-2? foot chop . But all in all we did 14 miles used a gallon and a half of gas.
