Tohatsu 20HP Break-in Question

Hi - I'm just starting to break-in my new 20HP Tohatsu. My question is on the oil changes after the 10 hour break-in. If I'm reading it right, my manual says after 20 hours to change the lower unit oil, and replace if necessary the engine oil and oil filter. But the Tohatsu web-site says just change the lower unit oil after 10 hours. So I'm confused. Change after 10 hours or 20 hours? And just the lower unit? Or all three (lower unit oil, engine oil and oil filter)?

Thanks

Re: Tohatsu 20HP Break-in Question

All three after either 10 or 20 hours. It is a general rule rather a specific rule. Some people due it 10 hours, some at 15 and some at 20.

Personally, being a new engine on a break in process the shorter (10 h) the better...

Re: Tohatsu 20HP Break-in Question

I have a 2010 20hp Tohatsu. Changed all three at 20hours and again at about 50. Im well past that point now and the motor has'nt lost any performance. These are good little motors, real tough.
