I'm looking at buying a Tohatsu 9.8 4-stroke from
an Internet company (Porta-bote.com). It's the
rope start model so there won't be any controls
to worry about. Is there much else to getting these going out of the box besides fuel and oils? I haven't bought much over the Internet, but the Indiana dealers don't stock anything and just try to sell used motors. Any feed back as to what I might expect?

I bought mine through cabela's cataloge. It has a Nissan Label on it but , Tohatsu makes it, There the same thing. All I had to do was put it on the boat and start it (2 pulls and it started) Great motor, I'm very happy with it. 2000 Nissan 18hp four stroke. At the time Cabela's was offering free shipping.

Jackrg

You might want to put some oil in the crankcase before you start it though.
