Hello Every body.

This morning i was at sea with my tohatsu tldi 70hp. After about 20minutes drive, in rough water the oil warning lamp came on toghether with a continous audible sound.

The speed was automatically decreased. Then i switched off the engine. Then i restarted it and everthing went back to normal. However i am still afraid that i could stall at sea next time.

Does anyone know what was the cause please?

Most probably a faulty oil sending unit but other causes would be low oil level, faulty oil pump, faulty ignition module. If the oil level is fine change oil the sending unit and see if it happens again. You could also verify the oil pressure with a gauge. My new Tohatsu did the same thing when I fist started it after sitting a couple of days. It took to long for the sending unit to show oil pressure so the ignition module went into protection mode. I replaced the sending unit and she's good now.
