Hey everyone, I'm new here I will set things up soon. I just sold my bowrider and wanted to upgrade a bit. I don't have much money so of course finding a decent boat has been quite tough. Came up with one today, it was a 1990 Thundercraft 1700. minor issues inside i could fix but when i looked under i noticed tons and tons of bubbles all over the bottom. I have heard things before about it being rot but then others had different opinions. Is this a boat i should pass on could it really be rotten? I could make it look really great and enjoy it i'm sure but just scared there could be some real issues. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT HELP... Thank you!!

I wouldn't touch it. I've read a few articles about blisters in gelcoat, when it's as bad as you describe it could be a sign of serious problems in the fiberlgass laminate. In any case it's a major pain in the rear (and wallet) to repair. Keep looking, you'll find something in your budget that's in good shape (it sucks being without a boat though).
