Just bought a '01 Larson 190 SEI with 115 Johnson 2000 J115PLSSB. Ok. Now I am dumb The engine is supposed to used separated oil and gas and I cannot find the oil reservoir. It isn't even listed on the parts list in the engine, so I'm assuming it's in the boat. It's not, not that I can find. Am I insane? Can anyone help????

Re: Too dumb to find my oil reservoir

On that boat I am not sure, but it has to be in the back of the boat not to far from the motor.

I would follow the lines coming off the engine, you should have a throttle and shift cable and a really thick line with wires in it and a gas line, the remaining one should be the oil line just follow it back and see where it goes, it should be in a storage area at the back of the boat.

And you aren't stupid by any means, it is new to you boat and it takes some time to figure out where everything is.

If you can't find it on the boat pop the hood off and see if it is inside the cowl, i am not familiar with that engine but I have seen them on the engine itself but they normally have a cap in the hood to add oil.

Hope that helps, its all I have to offer.

The oil resevoir is not under the cowl. IF it has a resevoir, the two hoses (one fuel and one oil) will be the tip off. One goes to the gas tank the other to the resevoir. If you have only one line, the oil injection system has been removed and you MUST, I repeat MUST mix oil with the gas at 50:1 (one pint of TCW3 two stroke oil in each gallon of fuel. The oil tank is generally white plastic with a black cover. It will be located within a few feet from the engine. Oil injection systems are generally removed because the owner no longer trusted its operation or because he/she has read too much misinformation and felt compelled to remove it. In some cases the oil injection pump actually did fail and since they are relatively expensive they elected to eliminate it and pre-mix fuels as we've done for decades.
