1994 grady-white 246g explorer with 2002 yamaha f225.

water test went great on thursday. took delivery and headed north on the bay. weather got worse as we headed north. estimated 15-20 knot winds with lots of whitecaps. boat handled it better than expected. just cruised along at 23-25 mph, happy as can be. no pounding, creeking, cracking, etc. took plenty of shots across the bow, stayed nice and dry with the curtains. windshield wipers even worked great to keep me seeing. didn't have to stand to absorb the pounding, nice and comfy in the captains chairs.

two (hopefully) minor problems with the engine. when i picked it up, dealer said they did perform the most recent throttle linkage update the day before. after the water test, captain noticed the idle was too high (1400) and it needed to be adjusted because of the update performed. had a mechanic bring it down to 800-900. after my 1 1/2 hr trip north, as i pulled into the dock, the idle was back up to 1200-1300. so i need to adjust the idle again. shouldn't be too hard, right? ordering a manual today.

second one scared me at first. like i said engien ran smooth as can be. so freakin quiet (my first 4-stroke). after i closed the boat up at the dock, i lifted the engine and went to the stern to see how high out of the water it was. i noticed some oil dripping from the front of the cowling onto the bracket. i put it back down and removed the cowling to try and see where it was coming from. couldn't tell, so left it down. i left town on friday morning, but called the dealer. he said it was probably foggin oil. anyway, got back yesterday to the boat. took off the cowling and tilted the engine. no oil leak, just some residual from thursday. put it back down and cleaned it all up. then checked the oil level about an hr later. level was high, approx 1 1/2" above the full mark. so the question is, did the oil leak from a vent or something? second question is how much is too much, and am i in danger right now? do i have to drain some?

i'll work through these issues. so far dealer has been supportive, so i'm not really upset. used is used. but overall, very happy with the purchase. boat is just great, really love the layout, features, and how it handles rough water. will be a fun summer for sure.
