So i took my first test drive today. A couple of things i wanted to bring up. First time it had been run in six months. Took a few tries for it to turn over and start, from there if it was given a little gas it would cut off. This happened about six or seven times. After letting it idle and warm up for a few mintues it ran fine. This somewhat normal for a boats first start up after six months?

Is it an Outboard or a Sterndrive? My boat with 400+ hours starts better than that when first started after eight months. Cutting out when you give it gas while cold is not really abnormal but it is an indication of the choke not working well on a carb engine. If it's fuel injected you'll need some sensors looked at.

Consider a problem with the Accelerator Pump.
You should see fuel squirting down the Carb Throat as you pump the throttle open.
It is essentially an automatic squirt gun for the gas.

If it is a carbed motor and was winterized using fogging oil sometimes it can take a minute or two to fully burn off the fogging oil. I would say if it continues to act this way then you have an issue.

after it warmed up did it hesitate?
cold engines that have sat awhile i find need to idle a bit before revving up even a little just to get the oil moving
it has sat for 6 months waiting the fogging oil is a factor as well
