A man died last night. It was probably the right thing.
It is not a reason to celebrate.

Wouldn't the proper description be "hydro-locked"? After all they filled him with fluids untill his engine stopped.

Sorry Rolmops, but there will be no sympathy or remorse from me. He got what he deserved... about 20 years delayed.

Re: "Tookie" has now vapor locked

I'm kinda with rolmops on this one, guys. Did he get what he deserved? I think so. The portrayal of him by the media had me almost convinced that the man had really changed, and maybe this wasn't the thing to do. But his actions at the end, no remorse, defiant, etc. Then I heard of some of the ways he has tried to beat this sentence ....

Yes, it was the right thing to do, but I still will only ever celebrate the death of one man, and that is the man, Jesus Christ, because of what His birth and death mean to me.

I am saddened that this man went to eternity probably without a faith and trust in Christ. I truly wish he had changed.

If you all are representative of what it means to be a Christian, I am more than happy to remain what I am.

OK theriver, what’s the answer?? Was justice not served in this case? IMO it was, and I am sure if you questioned the VICTIMS families the would say it was served about 19 and 1/2 years late. Or would you feel better about OJ if he started writing children’s books and campaigning ageist domestic violence??

theriver - OJ is proof the jury system works! The system is designed so that we, the people, CAN pardon a guilty person, should we choose to. ‘Guilt’ is our (the jury’s) decision, NOT the gov’t’s. Unfortunately, not enough jurors have the balls and/or lack the knowledge to fulfill their civic responsibility.

WIth little doubt, then man probably got what he deserved...

Cheering for joy at someone's death... regardless of who it is, is pretty callous!

PW2 & BassCat,

I am happy that the system worked as the CA voters intended it to. I am not happy that a man has died. I am happy that a MONSTER has died, but wish that he was never that and was a decent man. There would be no execution if that were true. Evil needs to be defined, identified and eradicated. Note I did not say understood.

Congrats RF!!!

18rabbit,

Well said.

Re: "Tookie" has now vapor locked

I feel the death penalty should be a last resort for violent crime like the ones Tookie and OJ committed. If there is no doubt, ie: murderous rampage and killer is caught in the act, trial and penalty should be carried out very swiftly. There have been cases though where 25 years after the fact convicted killers have been cleared of murders due to new evidence/DNA etc. Its a dam good thing they were not put to death.

As far as discussing OJ, well, that was already beaten to death I'm sure. The jury system does work, but you have to admit when you have 2 people commit murder, and 1 dies and 1 goes free, and its because 1 had high priced lawyers and the other did not, its the system that is failing. There are 100's of Tookies out there. I'm not suggesting they don't deserve what's coming to them, but when you see Robert Blake and OJ walk, there is a huge injustice going on.

He got what he deserved, he earned wherever he is now.
He did change, but for what reason? Because he wanted to or to beat the system?
Prisons and foxholes are full of Christians.

One question to those celebrating, would you be able to give the injection and watch him die at your own hand? He earned his place, but would we celebrate if we were the ones giving the shot?

I agree with the death penalty if it is done out of punishment not revenge. If we act out of revenge we are no better than they.

Another question, why 20 years? Never understood that. Get it done and over with, save money. Should execute 1 every weekend.
