Tool or tip to remove last bit of wood from stringer ?

I was wondering what tools or tips you may recommend to remove the last bit of wood on bottom of stringer about 1/2" to 1" of solid wood I would like to get it out to redo my stringers

4 1/2 inch grinder with the safety removed.

die grinder also works well.

I tried the grinder and it seems to smoke the wood more than cut trough

What disk should I use ? maybe mine is too thick

sanding disc, with 30 grit paper, gets anything.
