Was just curious... I've got a 17' fiberglass tri-hull with a 50 hp evinrude 2-stroke that will only run about 20 to 25 mph @ WOT, motor runs smooth (don't have a tack yet). Is this about the average top end speed for this setup? Thanks :)

Yes, Cowboy, that is a respectable top end for a 17' boat with 50hp.

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)

Re: Top end Speed?

I got about 22 mph out of my 17 footer with a Homelite 55 horse 4 stroke. Put on a recently purchased 85 horse Merc inline six two stroke and it goes about 32 mph. Good thing about that Homelite is it could idle all day long with no fouling, and used half as much gas as the merc. 110 horse is the max I can put on my hull. hmmm....
