I have a 1986 110 hp evinrude vro model#e110mlcdc serial# r1308421 on an 18 ft center console cobia. I'm looking for a top mount controller. Don't know what kind to get. The 2 lever or the single lever. I don't want to spend more than $200.00 cause my boat is a junker for fishing. I don't care what it looks like. I just want it to work good. Does anyone know where I can get a used one or a new one for less than 200? I want one that will last me a few years of abuse. Any recommendations on what kind to get? I'd like on that i could plug into my motor's harness, but i'm willing to mount switches to my console and do some modifications.
Also I have a 1983 merc 70 hp. Can I use the throttle/shifter cables off of that on my evinrude?

Re: top mount control question

E-bay would be the best source for a used control. Merc. control is not compatable without mods. Single lever would be my choice(Just simpler), but that's up to you...

Here's a start:

Controls & Steering

You might narrow it down by searching for "OMC" within "Controls and Steering"

Adapters (cable ends) are available to make virtually any cable work with any engine and control. You just need to do some on-line searches.

I'm going to get new cables for throttle/shifter. How do I measure to get the right length? I also want to install new wires for my lights/electronics ect. What kind and what size is recommended.
