Top Mount Controls

I'm looking to replace the remote controls on my boat, but it seems that the majority of the controls I find for Merc. all seem to be for outboards.
Are these interchangeable at all? or are they sterndrive/outboard specific units?

Ayuh,.... I believe they'll interchange,.... can't say for sure, never tried it,....

Look to aftermarket for more choices,....

I just switched my Gen 1 Merc control to a Gen 2. Although you need new cables, it is a much smoother control.

Thanks that's the exact unit that I was interested in. How would I know if I have a GEN 1/2 control?
I'm assuming you're talking about it being alpha-1 Gen 1/2/+?
If so I have the Gen +

The Gen 1, Gen 2 have a different meaning for controls vs your drive. You should give Mercury a call and have them help you. Unfortunately, the website is pretty pathetic to find anything about these controls.

The linked info inside post #4 may help with where to find the part numbers to help match the correct design shifter you're looking for. You are looking for "MCM".
