Top Mounting Issue

My factory top mounts to the top of the windshield frame on the sides via two mounts that are held in by two screws. The screw holes are stripped out and I have made my dealer aware of the issue. They have agreed to take care of the problem when I bring it in for service in November. I imagine they will have to replace both sides of the windshield because whoever installed originally them has drilled multiple holes and all of them are stripped. This is the bracket that the top pivots on:

The problem I see is that the sheetmetal screws are just going to strip out again. Anyone have any better ideas? I was hoping to find a pivot mount with 4 screw holes that would spread out the load.

If you can reach underneath where that are mounted you definately should install a backing plate of some kind. Forget about screws and think towards a nut and bolt system. :D

I don't see a way to get a nut between the glass and the frame. Here is another pic of the mounts:
