top speed 70hp?

i have a 70 hp evinrude pushing a 16' 1975 glastron. the engine seems to have more but planes at 33mph. any advice?? no tach.

If that 33 is GPS ,it sounds about average for a 70 pushing that rig.Best advice I can give past that is to have a tach installed.Without a tach ,you're flying blind so to speak.

My Father-in-laws boat with a 70 runs 28 @ wot. Yours is doing good.

My 1980 j70 gets 29mph and my 18ft Starcraft is load up with a lot of fishing gear, fuel batteries and live wells for bait and fish. Plus 2 to 3 bodies, thats fast enough.<br />Zeke440

I use to get up to 36 MPH on a similar boat...but that was with just me in the boat, on a calm day.

I get 21mph on my pontoon boat with a 70 rude. Does that count???
