Top speed...

Just out of curiosity. What are the top speeds of the boats out there? Just reply on what brand and model boat and top speed trimmed out you have had it. I am not a thrill seeker by any means, only had mine topped out once in the 20 years I have had it. This is just out of curiosity on what the various setups will do. Thanks.

1996 Glastron GS-160 w/ 1979 Merc 140hp (Crank Rated), 21P, About 65+. 2003 24' 240 Platinum Splendor Cat with a 260 hp Mercruiser Bravo 3. 52 mph at 4600 rpm. I dont run it wide open very much, I usually set it at 3200 rpm and cruise about 35. Not the fastest boat on the water but it is the most fun boat on the water.

15' Allison w/stock 140 Evinrude looper, 82 mph in 1/4 mile. 76 w/stock 115 crossflow.<br /><br />18' (Texas) Mirage Mod VP w/stock 200 Evinrude looper, 100 mph in 1/4 mile.<br /><br />20' Hydrostream Vegas XT w/stock 200 Johnson looper, 88 mph (top).<br /><br />20' Dusky w/stock 150 Johnson 60 degree, 50 (top).

1988 bayliner capri, 140hp 3.0 i/o, 43mph GPS following the tide and the wind, 38.4mph during the dead tide (more honest number). 4600RPM.

I boat for fish mostly so I don't have the raw speed of some but what I do have I like.<br />It's a 2000 Hewes Craft 165 RiverRunner. I found a 1990 120hp looper so I put a jet pump on it and with a little toying around with tune and impellers, I can do 40mph at 5100rpm (3000ft elev.). At sea level or near I can get r's up to about 5400 and for speed, well, I was dodging rocks so I didn't even look at gps...

My 1954 Evinrude 7.5 get's me going on a good day at about 10 mph.<br /><br />My 2004 Cutter with a 90 hp merc get's me going at about 50 mph wide open.....

Wellcraft 196 Eclipse Merc 350 magnum, Alpha one, Gil thru Hull 4" exhaust, Edelbrock Peformer Intake, 600 cfm Edelbrock performer marine Carb, 21p Quiksilver Mirage propeller, Trim master tabs, Got 62mph on gps at 4200rpm, and have still not dialed in at WOT since above upgrades.

My living room on the water will do 29 mph at 5100 rpm's, trimmed out, full tank of fuel, 25 gallons.<br />1993 Lowe 220 Deckboat powered by a 1993 Evinrude 88 Special Outboard. 1972 19’ John Allmand/Super Nova I/O Mopar 360ci/320hp Volvo drive. A true 67mph. With the right prop over 70 (but steering gets real stiff)

1976 22 foot SeaRay weekender 235HP 351 Ford V8 OMC out drive . Full tank off gas '' 80 gal '' and 3 guys ... 245lbs 285lbs and 315lbs , Trim tabs full down at 4100RPM 37.2 MPH on GPS . Now I have a SS prop thinking about 44 mph with the same load .
