Picked up a new project this past summer, 31' Silverton Convertible.
Splashed her in late July and had a great August and September on Lake Michigan.
Had little issue with anything on the boat and was happy to be able to use it and fill the freezer with salmon.
Having no major mechanical issues to tackle I am set on prettying her up before the spring splash.
I would like to refinish the Topside and bridge but haven't a clue where to start.
There are no major wear areas, just hasn't been kept up and the anti splip surfaces around the gunwals needs to be refinished as well as the deck over the V Berth.

I would also like to repaint the hull and give it a fresher look with a color other than white. Thinking of the colors along the lines of Tiara's reds or blues.

Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Ayuh,... Sounds like Alota paintin', in alota places that'll want different coatings...

As with 'bout Any painting, start at the Top, 'n work down....
Plastic wrap the "Done" as ya go...

The boat is in cold storage but with being a coach of a winter sport I don't have time for the boat till the end of march so I'm just starting my research and planning.
I have spray painted before and I'm not scared of an I depth project. Just need some direction. On where to start and materials to use.
First fiber boat. All others have been tinners.

Well.. you have to start the deck refinishing (non-skid) with sanding the existing finish flat. You may have to prime before you roll or spray your new non-skid depending on how thick the gel or substrate is.

As far as the hull.. you should sand it down to a 120 grit profile and apply some primer/sealer. .. then resand the primer with 320-400 grit and apply the Paint. I dont know if you plan on spraying or rolling and tipping.

Find what paint system you want to use and go backwards on how to prep for that final finish.

You could start with sanding, hardware removal, etc. while it's cold. Then when it's warm you'll be ready to go. Seems like the prep work takes the longest anyway.

I wish I could start now. To much to do in the winter. Will start on it in march.
