I over heated and warped the head on my 1980 35hp Johnson, J35ELCSM.
Ordered new Head and gaskets.

I got a manual from the library but the closest I could find was 1973-1990, 48hp-235hp. The head shown in this manual looks just like mine.

Can I follow the torque specks from this manual in installing the head, water, and exhaust covers?

Head= 18-20ft lbs
Water and Exhaust Covers= 5-7ft lbs

Thanks,
Erik

Re: Torque Spec Advice

I found a service manual that mached the year and Hp for this engine. It showed the same specs as the other book. Torqued everything as specified.

The engine runs again. Has good compression and no water leaks in cylinders or exhaust.

Thanks,
Erik.
