Good morning,
Having suscessfully mounted My new used timing belt, it's time to torque the flywheel nut. My question is does anybody know, how many lbs for a 1965 75hp johnson flywheel nut, and could you tell me please? thanks for all your help so far. While I've done many things by trial and error, it simply great being able to ask questions of people who have already been there. I thank you for all your help....,mike

Thanks It's a start, I don't think that they changed things that much back then, so i assume(there's that word) it's close. I'll wait and see if someone knows for sure, is there any problem in over torqueing it a bit say 90, or is that worse?...,mike

Re: torque value for a flywheel nut

It's 70-85 for your motor. Don't over or under torque it. Over torquing will spread and destroy the flywheel. Under torquing will shear the key and the flywheel will spin on the shaft and gall it. And make sure the shaft and flywheel tapers are clean and dry before assembling..
