If you use a swivel type (universal) adapter with a torque wrench, is the reading still accurate?

Re: TORQUE WRENCH QUESTION

NO though it is close, u-joints "stick at certain points in their revolution as I am sure you have noticed. better to use a device that looks like a open ended wrench head but instead of a handle it has a short shaft with a square hole that you put the ratchet/torque wrench in they come with holes for standard ratchets 3/8", 1/2" etc. If you must use a u-joint keep it as straight as possible and try to determine where the sticking point is in the rotation and ensure when the wrench reaches torque setting you are not hitting the sticking point or you can seriously under torque the bolts. This is most critical on the head, block to crankcase and rod bolts.

Bruce

Bud... The above was my line of thought but I didn't know for sure.

However, Just to see how close the reading would be, I'd try that universal adapter on the same angle, on a bolt that I could get a straight shot at if I wanted to. Then, check the torque with the same wrench using a straight normal attack.
