i cant tughten the flywheel nut more than 20 pounds torque, then i can't prevent the flywheel from spinning. What do i use to hold the flywheel? I've looked for belt wrenches but none are large enough. Do i have to make one?

i dont know, get a vacuum belt and and replace the smaller belt on the wrench?

Re: torquing flywheel nut

There are generally three bolt holes in the flywheel which are used to attach a flywheel puller. Insert a bolt in two of the holes and use a breaker bar between them. Just use grade 8 bolts. Elementary physics takes over from there.

As Silvertip.
It's not that hard to do.

Wrap your belt around it and pinch it off with some big vice grips.

Many of us might just use an air or electric impact gun.

leverage!

ive read somewhere on this website where they used rope and stuffed it into a cylinder to hold it in place. not sure if it works or is a good idea.

The rope trick is rather risky on a two stroke and can be a disaster on a four stroke.

Im gonna get killed here, but i use an impact wrench on the lowest setting using common sense watching the nut turn just the right amount. It works for me..
