I run pump 87 oct with 50:1 Amsoil Interceptor, timing set at 21 degs.(1986 Merc 115 I6).

Some may call it snake oil but the ease of starting with the Interceptor versus any other brand of oil ive tried was night and day.

Thanks, Maybe running cheap oil is part of my problem...I'll look for that oil next time.

Ronnie, Normally Amsoil is not TCW-III certified. I would not recommend it for that reason.

Do I hear an oil thread?

79 1/2 115hp inline 6, merc classic 50, yamaha pro-50, Fastwin 18hp, scott attwater 7.5, from 16:1 to 50:1 I have used tcw-iii generic from local farm store for many years, since it came out, never any problems. If the oil certified to TCW-III, I don't care who makes it.

edit: I can still buy fuel with NO alcohol. I get whatever I can in octane that has NO alcohol. I use marine stabil because I like their TV adds.

^1 as I have done the same for over 30 years. No ethonal, TCW-III certified oil, stabil when it sets and run motor dry of fuel before storage. Check puregas.org online for stright gas, no ethanol, near you.

The HP Injector oil is TCW-III . In any case TCW-III is largely an environmental certification signifying a low phosphorous oil among other things. Many 2 stroke engine manufacturers won't allow the stuff for warranty purposes for that reason.
