Toyota overtakes Ford in monthly US vehicle sales

Toyota has accelerated past another road marker on its way to becoming the second largest automaker in the US vehicle market, as its July sales overtook rival Ford's for the first time.

The Japanese carmaker announced Tuesday that it had posted a 16.2 percent sales gain in July as sales struck 241,826 units, surpassing the Ford Motor Co.'s 241,339 sales pace, and marking the first time Toyota has surpassed Ford on a monthly sales pace.

I have very mixed emotions on this news. While I believe we should "buy American" the lines are pretty blurry any more. I don't know of any car co that doesn't use components from all over. Toyota, Nissan, Mazda, and all of the rest are providing a lot of jobs for Americans in factories, dealerships, shippers, and all of that. Mazda provided me with a nice living for a number of years but I still kind of miss the old days! :'(

So that means that American made Japanese cars are outselling Mexican and Canadian made American cars.

Who woulda guessed it.

The surprise to me is, I would have thought that Honda would be the one to do it.
